Gem mining buckets start at $35 and range up to $2,500 for premium buckets loaded with rarer material. Every bucket includes flume access, and you keep everything you find. Walk-ins are welcome, or book online and save.

Is gem mining good for kids? What ages can mine?
Gem mining is perfect for all ages — kids as young as 2 or 3 can sift with a parent's help, and every scoop feels like finding treasure. It's one of Pigeon Forge's favorite family activities.
What will I find in my mining bucket?
Real gemstones, fossils, and arrowheads, depending on your bucket. Common finds include amethyst, quartz, agate, and other natural stones, plus fossils like shark teeth. Our staff offer free gemstone identification, so you'll know exactly what you found.
Do I need a reservation to go gem mining?
No reservation needed — walk-ins are always welcome. If you'd like to plan ahead, you can book online in advance and save on your bucket.
Is the fossil museum really free?
Yes — it's the only free fossil museum in Pigeon Forge, and no purchase is required. See rare Ice Age specimens including a genuine woolly rhino skull and a real mammoth bone you can touch.
How long does gem mining take?
Most visitors spend about 20–60 minutes, depending on bucket size — but it's completely go-at-your-own-pace, so you're welcome to stay and sift as long as you like.
Can we mine in bad weather or in winter?
Yes — the mining flume is covered, so you can mine rain or shine. We're open year-round, including winter.
